Relief is an interactive video installation, where the user can manipulate in real time the relief of repeated movements of human bodies, slowly morphing into moving organic shapes. The creation process involves two steps: the first one is to shoot the actual body parts in specific lighting conditions and make video loops of them, then throw them in the program and let the fun begin.
It started as an exploratory project about faking 3D from 2D images using basic height map based on brightness. Now it is a fully working and well optimized installation. Everything can be controlled by hand using a BCR2000 MIDI controller for now, with the ability to save and recall settings.
This is still a work in progress, more videos of more bodies will be added.
A trial of an overlay for the Behringuer BCR2000 MIDI controller. This allows to fully control the installation : select body parts, move them, shape them, change the lightings, background color, some effects... and save your settings to call them back later
